This is the Most Anticipated card of the year. This card is absolutely stacked, full of known fighters and real contenders. The funny thing is there is no actual belt on the line for this card which is just crazy. Being that there is more known fighters on the card, I think that betting might be more strategic because of the history.

Jorge Masvidal

VS

Nate Diaz

+140

This bout is for the BMF (baddest mf’er) Belt. These two are long veterans of the sport and honestly I could see both imposing their will on the other. I also have a lot of emotions invested in both over the years as a long fan of both. I grew up watching Jorge Masvidal on the Kimbo street fight videos out of Miami on the dawn of the YouTube era.

Jorge Masvidal:

The First Fight with Ray

The Rematch

These fights were absolutely nuts! Especially at the time, there had been no other kind of videos surfacing on the internet. Ya there were street fights, but not actual coordinated fights, where they were bet on by the people involved. Jorge Masvidal took on a guy that had about 50 lbs on him. He showed that he was a real fighter and got me as a fan that day.

Nate Diaz:

I also grew up watching Nate and Nick Diaz dating all the way back to the WEC days. I fell in love with both their fighting styles, always pressing and in your face. Nathan’s cardio has always been his strong point, outlasting others and being able to dig deep when others want to quit. His ground game is underated to a casual fan, his boxing is crisp as well. He spars with boxing Champions like Andre Ward.

The Fight:

There are a few ways this thing could go. It’s a 5 round fight so we have to remember that we have not really seen Jorge Masvidal go 5 round because he hasn’t headed a card or fought for the title. With that being said, If Jorge fades during the later rounds, Nate diaz could take advantage of this and make for a stoppage at some point. Nate Diaz is great on the ground, but so is Jorge Masvidal. Not many people know how good Jorge Masvidal’s ground game is because they have just started following him. Even when he lost to Damian Maia, Jorge made it the whole fight without getting submitted and taking minimal damage. This is something Jorge’s arch nemesis, Ben Askren, can’t say. Ben was rear naked choked in the third round. He is supposed to be the best grappler in the division. Jorge can wrestle, but his main thing is his striking. I think most of this fight will be on the feet.

PICK: Jorge Masvidal -170

Why?

In my opinion at this points in their career, Jorge Masvidal is just a better striker. He’s more explosive and much better with his feet (and knees). This is going to be a great fight, but my money is on Masvidal.

Kevin Gastellum

Kevin Gastellum

VS

Darren Till

+170

Darren Till

Kevin Gastellum:

After Kevin’s move to Middleweight, he has shown that’s the division where he really belongs. He was on his way to obtain the belt until Israel Adasanyo stepped in for Robert Whitaker for the Interim belt. The fight between the two was one for the ages. Kevin Gastellum showed one of the most successes versus Israel by anyone that he’s faced in the UFC

Darren Till:

Darren Till’s last fight was against no other than Jorge Masvidal. He was doing extremely well until getting knocked out in the 2nd round. I think Till’s cut to 170 was too much on his body and this will be a better weight class for him.

The Fight:

The biggest factor in this fight is the unknown. We don’t know how Darren Till will do in this weight class that’s 15 pounds higher than welterweight. I think Darren Till does belong in this division, but I think this is a bad matchup for him. Kevin Gastellum hits hard, and I think he will connect sometime during the fight.

PICK: Kevin Gastellum -195

Why?

Kevin Gastellum has a slight advantage on the feet with his power. Darren Till could easily also win this fight, but I think Gastellum takes this one.

Stephen Thompson

VS

Vicente Luque

-105

vicente luque

Stephen Thompson:

There is not much to say about Stephen Thompson. I do believe his last fight against Anthony Pettis was a fluke. His kickboxing level is extraordinary.

Vicente Luque:

Luque is also a qualified striker, light on his feet. He’s a veteran just like Thompson.

The Fight:

If the fight was 5 rounds, my pick might be different. Considering it’s only 3 rounds, I see it going Thompson’s way. He is great at point fighting and will showcase it.

PICK: Stephen Thompson -125

Why?

Stephen Thompson is going to fight his fight. I expect a decision win.

Derrick Lewis

-105

Derrick Lewis

VS

Blagoy Ivanov

-125

blagoy

Derrick Lewis:

Derrick Lewis has shown signs of fatigue in the past. I don’t expect any change.

Blagoy Ivanov:

Ivanov has been fighting more consistent and I think he’s a better fighter.

The Fight:

Lewis will gas and Ivanov will take advantage of it.

PICK: Blagoy Ivanov -125

Why?

Because I just don’t think Derrick Lewis has anything to fight for.

kevin lee

+135

Kevin Lee

VS

Gregor Gillespie

-165

Kevin Lee:

Man, Kevin Lee has really been on a downward slope since that Tony Ferguson fight.

Gregor Gillespie:

He’s undefeated and there is a reason for that. Yes that’s right, he is good.

The Fight:

Gillepsie is going to take it to Kevin Lee, this might be Lee’s last fight in the UFC

PICK: Gregor Gillespie -165

Why?

Gillespie stays undefeated.
